Guidance & Counseling

Guidance and Counseling is an integral part of education which aims in providing opportunities for all students to learn and develop to their fullest potentials. To help students understand themselves and at the same time help the parents, teachers, and administrators understand the learners, the GUIDANCE CENTER of the school provides the services.

 

The Guidance Center is an integral part of student services which assists clients in developing their academic skills, setting career goals, managing healthy relationships, coping with problems, dealing with adjustment difficulties and other developmental issues.

 

A corollary to the vision and mission of the student services, the Guidance Center hopes to render services purposely designed to help the clients set healthy life goals and develop productive behavior necessary for the maximum development of their potentials.

BISU guidance center passionately advocates personal growth and holistic development of the students who are productive, resilient, morally upright, and fully functioning individuals to contribute to the betterment of the community and society at large.

Mission

Development of students to a well-rounded personality through value-formation programs and services that will maximize their potentials The guidance center is committed to develop the academic, vocational, personal/social and emotional and spiritual growth of each student. In collaboration with administration, faculty, staff and families, we facilitate in innovating a comprehensive need-based program for students in the areas of wellness, psycho- emotional, leadership and service.

Basic Guidance Services

To attain these goals, the Guidance Center has orchestrated a program that complements the instructional program of the institution as follows:

Individual Inventory Services

This service involves the acquisition, maintenance, and safeguarding of individual student records. It aims to gather, organize and compile pertinent data and information of every student for its functional use. Such records include personal and educational data, test results, student's needs and other related information that are useful for the development of clients‟ educational, emotional, spiritual and social well-being.

Information Services

This includes the conduct of orientation, seminars and relevant educational, occupational and social information through informative materials. The Guidance Center shall disseminate relevant information for the holistic development of the clients. This service encompasses all information which is made available through bulletins, announcements, brochures, electronic media, orientation activities and trainings.

Counseling Services

Counseling is the heart of the guidance services which is concerned with providing individual and group counseling to clients either walk-in or referred who visit the Guidance Center to seek assistance on matters affecting their educational, emotional, spiritual and social well-being. It aims to help them develop their potentials and be aware of their limitations which are vital in making decisions and the right choices in life.

Testing Services

This service includes the administration, analysis and interpretation of standardized psychological tests to gather adequate and reliable data about the students‟ intellectual capacities, potentials, interests, personality and aptitude.

Placement Services

This service involves the conduct of activities that would enhance students‟ awareness of their career choices and their connection to the world of work. Activities in this service include the establishment of job placement linkages with different firms and agencies and providing maximum information on employment.

Follow-up Services

It is a service where counselors call students with behavioral problem excessive absences incomplete school works, failed courses and other academic-related problems. Also includes academic monitoring counselor-parent guardian and counselor teacher consultation to facilitate concerns affecting school performance and self-management.
